Welcome to the crew and highest hopes that you enjoy renewing your interests in music.

I think your sharing with people in nursing homes is a testament to your dedication to service to others.  I would bet when you are playing the people’s faces display emotions from memories of times when that personal sharing of music was exciting and full of fellowship was all they had.  The people I know in my area here in Appalachia, modern synthetic and amplified sounds are not attractive to them.  The homemade music does.   You have a big heart and it shows even through this media.  Bless you.

Hello Ms Peg!  I am very curious about your description of “not musically inclined”.  I am very very sure that there is nothing you cannot do, as long as you have the Lord guiding you and blessing your efforts.  I feel that with guidance from Jonathan, and support from the student team;  You will prove the opposite by making beautiful music.  It will be work, but it should be pleasant work.  Just speak up when you struggle, and help will be there.

Sharing music is a wonderful and forever memory you can give a child.  I would love to hear how your grandchild responds.  Music is such an amazing tool to reach where words or human hands cannot.  Blessings to you and your efforts!

I lasted for about a half hour, then I did pack it up.  It was a circus.  I do not think I could have outplayed the loudness, as the radios/CD/MP3/boats/cars/trucks/RVs/etc… were using amplified speakers.  Helped possibly because of the valley terrain, some boat radios from the lake were resounded off of the hills surrounding the park.   You could hear as if you sat beside the radio, even when hundreds of yards away.

The positive from this experience is that I tried in a challenging environment.  The hardest to play was a steady rhythm.  I tend to follow (not lead) in music, so I fell short of keeping rhythm with all the off beats resounding in my ears.  Just shows that even a bad practice can yield a learning experience!

Thanks for the comment, I usually try to build on what I can do, add in pieces I struggle with until I can.  It takes time and dedicated practice.
