You should let your fellow riders or someone know about your goals, because that will add another level of motivation, that others are expecting you to achieve your goals. You will be less likely to give up when you get frustrated with practice.

Hey Eric, for the most part, this will come with time. But there are some things you can keep in mind to help.

1st of all, your entire finger doesn’t need to be perpendicular to the string, just up to the 1st knuckle. Because what really matters is the very bottom of your finger, to prevent touching other strings behind your fingers.

After I retired three years ago I found Jonathan’s Simplified Guitar course. There have been so many changes in my life since then. My goal was to just be able to play and sing simple hymns to the Lord. So for the past three years I have been blessed to be able to do that.
