I am stuck forever on Level 2 trying to make my folk paternities sound like Jonathan’s . Am I really this uncoordinated….suggestions

Hey Jackie, without seeing you play, it’ll be hard to give a precise critique. If you want, you can share a video of you playing either on the private facebook group, or email it to me at jonathan@simplifiedguitar.com

But in general, the thing that makes the folk pattern work is the dynamics. Make sure you are plucking just the root note of the chord on beat 1, (just 1 string). Then beat 2 should be a full strum. Beat 3 (and the upbeat after beat 3) should be soft. Beat 4 should be full and hard.
Do it over and over again while holding just 1 chord to try to wrap your mind around it, before trying to sing and do transitions.
