I share your feeling of being drawn here.  I truly hope you will enjoy the good spirit here.  Even though I have never met this group in person, it feels like a family.  We are all trying to keep everything our own life needs us to do, and to fulfill a need to learn, make music, and have fun (even if it is hard work).  Great to have you here!

Yes, that’s the idea. Obviously, some will sound better than others, but it can work with many of these different options. As you said, the most important factor is the length of the measures. Is the song in 4/4 time, 3/4 time, or 6/8 time? Once you have that determined, then you can fill in those measures with whole note strumming, half note, quarter, 8th, or 16th note strumming.

Cheryl, that is a great purpose, and should keep you motivated to continue learning.

I agree that music is a universal language, and transcends other forms of communication. It is a wonderful thing to be able to create your own music, and I hope you are able to achieve that one day as well.

Hey Cheryl, thanks for the heads up. I’ll look into it and maybe on Friday I can give a screen cast of how to navigate through it.

Update:  I have a small list of things I have noticed:

1. My posture affects the guitar position.  (not sure how drastic this can affect play)
2. My posture is affected by the type of chair I sit in when playing.
3. My right forearm rests on the guitar body, and my arm pivots on that point.
