In this lesson, we'll learn the "Folk Pattern".
Both this pattern and the driving pattern are both 4 beat patterns, but there are 2 main differences between them.
- The Folk Pattern has an extra up beat thrown in after beat 3.
- The Folk Pattern puts emphasis on beats 2 and 4, whereas the Driving Pattern puts the emphasis on beats 1 and 3.
This pattern gets its name because it's often used for folk type music.
PRACTICE
Practice using the same techniques you used for the driving pattern. Begin by focusing on the pattern by itself, then practice with a simple chord transition. If you run into any problems, follow the steps:
