Hey Cheryl, that is a good question.
The chord variations are definitely for more advanced levels, and wouldn’t really apply at the beginner stage. And it was a thought of mine that it might end up being too confusing to have all of that information up.
One thing I was thinking of doing was only putting up chords and variations that I actually use in songs, and only put up new…Read More

Hey Cheryl, that’s a great question, and it is a common problem to miss that first note on the 1st beat of each measure. In general, it’s a good rule of thumb to keep your strumming hand relatively still, and just move the wrist and fingers to make your strumming and plucking. This allows you to memorize what angle of the wrist will allow you to pluck which string. If your whole arm is…Read More

Hello Jonathan,
Just curious, as I have noticed I have to keep my eyes on two places at once while I am in this next phase: When I change chords, I keep failing to keep my base note “pick” on the correct string for the folk pattern, then I have to keep checking my fingers for the correct chord position. I almost feel like I am working my neck harder than my fingers!
I think I need t…Read More

Hello Pam,
I think you have found a great place to start! Your dancing ability will come in handy keeping a toe tapping to the beat!
Happy strumming to you!

Hey Jonathan,
The new format looks to be jam-packed with information. I realize your hard work and moves to perfect your curriculum and strategies to share about guitar; playing, picking, strumming, chords, rhythms, song progression, etc., etc. At the development stage of guitar playing I am currently in, I say that these changes would explain more than the previous examples I have u…Read More

Hello Ann,
I just wanted to give you a confidence boost! You send such wonderful messages, and definitely show your love of music and the Lord God throughout. I believe you can meet your goals and surpass them. Learning doesn’t stop because you retire, and you are proving a whole bunch of nay-sayers how wrong they are!

Hey Adela, I’m working on getting the audio up for all the chords. It’ll take a little bit of time, but just know that it is coming:)
And I’ll add that song suggestion into my list. I’ll see if I can get to it on this week’s live class.

Hi Jonathan, I am working on I hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack . Is there any way you can add an audio of F/C to the new chord library. I know I’m not getting it right but id like to know what i’m shooting for lol
Also, I don’t know if it’s possible but I would love it if you could put Walk Forever by My Side by The Alarm in the song library.
Thanks!!
Adela

Hello, my name is Ann Hepner and I am originally from the Western New York area (near Buffalo). I retired last year and moved to Florida to be nearer to my family.
I’ve always wanted to learn how to play guitar but never really had the time to put into it. Not long after I retired I bought a guitar and found Jonathan’s course. To be honest I was hesitant to try because I felt that bec…Read More -
