Hey Roland, once the video is playing, there will be the play bar at the bottom of the screen. On the bottom right, you should see the gear icon. Click that and you will see speed controls. Remember, the video has […]

Hi.
My Purpose – Related to guitar.
I too bought a lovely used acoustical strum guitar and I’d like to someday be able to use it in service, like at the nursing home, or to cheer a shut in, etc. I already owned a student classical guitar, but am a beginner.
My Plan.
I haven’t picked up the guitar in a couple months due to other unavoidable things. So I’ve got some catching u…Read More

Neat Idea. I also pause. I’ll have to try that.

Hey Cheryl, that’s a really cool idea. I’ve never heard of it, but it makes total sense. Anything to help keep the timing and your beats evenly spaced is a good thing!

I was practicing, and one of my friends asked, “Why are you pausing between strums?”
I didn’t realize I was.
He suggested I try using an egg shaker in my palm behind my pick. The idea is to keep the egg shaker going in time to the beat, when I am strumming. After trying this, I can see why he suggested it. It is giving me an audible feedback to what my wrist is doing, and is hel…Read More

Hello everyone, this week’s live class will be on Tuesday @ 12pm CST.
We will be discussing how to play and sing at the same time. This is a question I have received often, most recently from student Kristy Verver. Hope to see you there!

I lasted for about a half hour, then I did pack it up. It was a circus. I do not think I could have outplayed the loudness, as the radios/CD/MP3/boats/cars/trucks/RVs/etc… were using amplified speakers. Helped possibly because of the valley terrain, some boat radios from the lake were resounded off of the hills surrounding the park. You could hear as if you sat beside the radi…Read More

Hey Cheryl,
That’s gotta be frustrating. Nothing like going camping for some peace and quiet and people are blasting their radios all around you.
Sorry you had that experience. You can always try to play and sing louder. Because you’re in close proximity to yourself, you can play and sing loud enough to drown out any noise, unless it’s a crazy circus going on, in which case just pack…Read More

Thanks for the comment, I usually try to build on what I can do, add in pieces I struggle with until I can. It takes time and dedicated practice.

Hello all,
Has anyone had ever tried to practice when noise or enough room is a problem? Let me explain.
I went camping, took family with me because we all needed to make some good memories while we grieve the loss of my Grandpa. It was awesome, beautiful, inspiring, and mixed with relax time, sharing, grief recovery, and work.
Of course I packed my guitar, with high hopes of p…Read More
