Hey Sharon, yes, the superscripts that say 1/2 mean that you should land on the next chord on beat 3 in 4/4 time.
If a song has more than 1 page, I will usually put both pages side by side on a stand, so I dont have to turn pages in the middle of playing.
Those are good points about heading and page numbers. Thanks for the input. For now, you can write them in manually. -

Hey Jonathan,
This course is great, I am learning so much! I’d love to learn “O Praise the Name” if it is a sing you would do a tutorial for. Thanks

Thanks for the clarification Jonathan. Now I have down loaded all my new charts and noticed on the superscript 1/2. I assume then that the cord change will be on the 3rd beat for 4/4…? (that will take some practise;)
Also, do you have any recommendation on managing your paper copies while playing ? Seperate pages on a music stand, or would you bind them…? or figure out a digital…Read More

Hello Sharon, you can find out more about the features of music notes pro at the link below. Just be aware that the pro version will not give you free copies of chord charts. It will only give you discounts, so it depends on how much you plan on using it.

Is there an advantage to purchase Music Notes Pro for $14.99 to get Simplified Guitar cord charts or is it better to just to buy the $1.99/copy?

Thanks for the suggestions on Bsus4, C#m7 and loose thumb tip! Great to know. Do you have a similar tip for the Dm7 with the thumb? I feel like I’m getting closer, but not consistently there yet.
Have a great night!

Thanks so much, John and Jonathan. It seems the best thing to do is slow down and take time find the spot for the thumb that works best for what I’m trying to do.
I suspect some of my problem is hand strength, which should improve with time and practice.

Hi Susan, for the most part, my thumb is not placed on the back of the neck. But rather, my thumb is loose, and sometimes used to mute the low E string by just touching it slightly. So in general, the neck of the guitar is in the crook of my hand. But, in the E chord family, when I’m playing the Bsus4 and C#m7, I place my thumb against the back of the neck, because it allows me to get the…Read More

My fingers are sore too… especially #3 and #4. However, they are getting less sore with each passing day as I practice. I am slowly noticing improvement. Yay! Little by little… finger by finger… strum by strum.
I am enjoying the journey. Have a blessed day!

Hi Susan,
For me, the chord dictates where my thumb goes and it has taken time and patience to get comfortable. What I chose to do is emulate Jonathan’s thumb positions and mute fingers in his Song Library and after time that worked well for. For example, if you pause on any of his songs you can see the thumb position for various chords. I’ve also done the same with strumming. Mute the…Read More
