Hey Russell, yea, that’s a tough one. But awareness is half the battle. Now you can know the right techniques to conquer it and with a positive attitude, its just a matter of time. Do the launching point practice, and slow it down super slow. If the song is usually at 120 bpms, slow it down to 80, then slowly increase it by increments of 10 as you get comfortable.

Trying to overcome the struggle of transferring from one cord to the next without looking to much on the strumming, and the muting of unplayed strings.

My Name Russell, I to like so many of these students trying to play the guitar have failed when I could not grasp the technics, I just became frustrated each time and put the guitar down until I had the urge to pick it up again. I am 81 now, and I truly want to put my effort in now. And I believe with Jonathan’s methods I can accomplish my desire to play the guitar, if I stick to the…Read More

Hello and good morning from The United Kingdom Lee is my name. I am a total beginner. I am approaching 66, learning to play guitar is one on my bucket list. I never have any proper guitar lesson until now. I am enjoying it this minute. Just feeling a bit sore on my finger tips.

Below are some songs that I will be working on the next month or so. Still trying to get comfortable with the picking patterns, but slowly getting there. This goal setting really helps which is why I’m posting again. Gives me items to focus on. Thanks for all of the recent new songs you’ve posted. I’ve really enjoyed playing them!

Hi Sheila,
I am getting started again at 62 years of age since 15 when I taught myself a few chords. I am so excited!
I too want to learn to play for our worship team at church. I am ready for the discipline required.
I pray that all goes well for you and that you accomplish all of your goals.

Hello Ken,
I bought my first guitar at the age of 15. I taught myself a few chords and that’s as far as I went–no lessons for me either.
I am so excited at my age to finally learn to play and to play well. I know that it is going to be a process and require much work, but I do believe it will be well worth it.
I wish you well!
